According to the General Convention Management Secretariat, the closed session will start at 10:00 am. The inaugural session concluded on Sunday amid a grand ceremony, paving the way for detailed deliberations on policy, organization and leadership reform.
Focus on Policy and Organizational Reform
The closed session will hold in-depth discussions on the party’s policy direction, organizational structure and future political strategy. Special emphasis will be placed on addressing internal challenges facing the party and defining a clear roadmap ahead.
More than 2,600 general convention delegates elected from across the country are participating in the convention, which is being held under the leadership of General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa and at the special initiative of the delegates themselves.
Delegates to Raise Organizational and Leadership Issues
During today’s session, delegates are expected to openly express their views on existing organizational problems, the working style of the leadership and the need for greater policy clarity. Separate procedures have been set for conducting the closed session, continuing the tradition of chairmanship by the senior-most delegate.
Statute Implementation and End to Factionalism on Agenda
The main agenda of the closed session includes discussion on policy and organizational reports. Each delegate will be given the opportunity to present opinions and suggestions in detail.
The session is expected to focus on strict implementation of the party statute, ending factional politics and adopting a clear political stance ahead of upcoming elections. Amid growing pressure from delegates for reform and accountability, the closed session is widely expected to provide the Nepali Congress with a new direction and strengthen internal democracy within the party.
